STATUTORY RULES.
REGULATIONS UNDER THE POST AND TELEGRAPH ACT 1901.

advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the undermentioned amended
Regulations under the
Telephone Regulations.
to come into operation on the 27th day of July, 1907,

Telephone Regulations.
(Amendment of Statutory Rules 1906, No. 114.)
Regulation 30 under this head is amended by adding the following to the Schedule or annual rental charges, for extra apparatus:—

Part VI.
Regulation 51 under this head is amended by inserting therein, between the first and second paragraphs, the following paragraph:—
Where the said radial distance from a Telephone Exchange includes part of a town or municipality, but does not include the principal post-office of the town or municipality, but the distance of that post-office from the Telephone Exchange from which the said radial distance is measured does not exceed the said radial distance by more than half-a-mile, the line connecting the post-office and the Telephone Exchange shall be considered to be a junction line.
Regulation No. 55 under this head is repealed, and the following substituted therefor:—
55. When Telephone Trunk Lines are used for conversations in the nature of press telegrams, as defined in the Telegraph Regulations under the head “Press Telegrams,” the charge for such use during any hour the Trunk Line is open for public business shall be as follows:—
Distance Rate for Five Minutes Conversation.
Not exceeding 50 miles .... Sixpence.
Not exceeding 100 miles .. Ninepence.
Not exceeding 150 miles .. One shilling and one penny.
Not exceeding 200 miles .. One shilling and fivepence.
Not exceeding 250 miles .. One shilling and ninepence.
Not exceeding 300 miles .. Two shillings and one penny.
provided that conversations paid for at full rates shall in all cases take precedence over those paid for at press rates; that is, no conversation to be paid for at press rates shall be allowed to commence, or having commenced, shall be allowed to extend beyond the period then current, if any person is waiting to use the lines on payment of full rates.
Regulation 79 under this head is amended by adding thereto the following paragraphs:—
The rentals prescribed by these Regulations shall be charged for lines specially erected for Time Signalling purposes.
In cases where any public telegraph line is made available for such purposes, a charge of 1s. shall be made for each minute or portion of a minute during which the use of such public line is so required, except in cases where the signals are required for determining longitude, when special arrangements will be made.
