I, MALCOLM BLIGH TURNBULL, Minister for Communications, make the following Declaration under paragraphs 8J(1)(d) and 8K(1)(d) of the Telecommunications (Consumer Protection and Service Standards) Act 1999.

This Declaration is the Telecommunications Universal Service Obligation (First Declaration Deferral Period) Declaration 2014

  1. Commencement

This Declaration commences on the day after it is registered on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments.

  1. Definitions

In this Declaration:

Act means the Telecommunications (Consumer Protection and Service Standards) Act 1999.

Note: The term first declaration deferral period is defined in sections 8J and 8K of the Act.

  1. Declaration

The 18-month period starting immediately after this Declaration is made is the first declaration deferral period for the purposes of sections 8J and 8K of the Act.
