Telecommunications (Carrier Licence Charges) Act 1997

The AUSTRALIAN COMMUNICATIONS AND MEDIA AUTHORITY makes this Determination under paragraphs 15(1)(a), (c) and (ca) of the Telecommunications (Carrier Licence Charges) Act 1997.

Name of Determination

This Determination is the Telecommunications (Specification of Costs by the ACMA) Determination 2016.

Commencement

This Determination commences on the day after it is registered.

Cessation
This Determination ceases to have effect at the end of 30 June 2018 as if it had been repealed by another instrument.
Definitions
In this Determination, Act means the Telecommunications (Carrier Licence Charges) Act 1997.
Note:       A number of other expressions used in this Determination are defined in the Act, including the following:
(a)     ACMA;
(b)     ACMA’s telecommunications functions;
(c)     ACMA’s telecommunications powers;
(d)     cost.
Determination of amount attributable to the ACMA’s telecommunications functions and powers
For paragraph 15(1)(a) of the Act, the amount determined to be the proportion of the ACMA’s costs for the 2014–2015 financial year that is attributable to the ACMA’s telecommunications functions and powers is $23,372,539.
Determination of amount of ITU contribution to be recovered
For paragraph 15(1)(c) of the Act, the amount determined to be the proportion of the Commonwealth’s contribution to the budget of the International Telecommunication Union for the 2015 calendar year that is to be recovered from carriers is $1,861,021.
Determination of amounts paid under section 136C of the Telecommunications Act 1997
For paragraph 15(1)(ca) of the Act, the amount determined to be the sum of the amounts paid under section 136C of the Telecommunications Act 1997 during the 2014–2015 financial year is $0.
