TECHNICAL INST~ ~ ~ TIO: N [ASSENTED TO 14TH NOVEMBER, 1918.J BE AMENDMENT ACT it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, OF 1918. by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Council and Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authorit~ of the same, as follows:- Short title 1. Th,e Principal Act and this Act may be cited together as " The Technical Instruction Acts, 1908 to 1918." Amendment 2. Subsection two of section five of the Principal Act of s. 5. is repealed. Control of 3. (1.) Subject to such terms and conditions as the cteocllhengiecsalmay Governor in Council by Order in Council may determine, be given to the C01:poration may at any time take complete charge of Corporation. and administer all or any of the colleges. or institutions established for the purpose of technical instruction to which any aid or endowment has, whether before or after the passing of this Act, been given or granted, or is being given or granted, from the moneys of the State. (2.) Thereupon the following consequences shall ensue:- (i.) All of the property and assets, real and personal, of any kind whatsoever of or belonging to the trustees or committee of management of or belonging to any body or person, for or on behalf of or in trust for any such college or institution affected, shall forth with be divested from the trustees or committee of management, and from such bodies or persons respectively, and shall be vested in the Corporation; and all such property and assets and all other property which may thereafter be acquired for the purposes of each such college or institution * 8 Edw. EDUCATION. 8487 1918. Technical Instruction Act Amendment .c1ct. shall be held, administered, and appropriated by the Oorporation for the purposes of "The Technical l1istruotion .dcts, 1~ 08 to 1918," and for such purposes the Oorporation shall have and may exercise all the necessary powers and authorities. (ii.) All the liabilities and obligations of the truetees or committee of management of any such college or institution affected, and aU the liabilities and obligations of any such body or person last aforesaid in respect of each such college or institution, or the property, assets, or affairs thereof, shall devolve and be imposed upon and shall be discharged hy the Ooriloration. (iii.) Provided that, in any case where any such college or institution is erected upon any lands vested in any 'l'rustees or in any local Authority, nothing herein contained shall be taken to divest from such Trustees or Local Authority or in any way prpjudice the title of such rl'rustees or Local Authoritv to such lands or any buildings or improveme'iIts erected thereon, or to impose upon the Oorporation any liabilities or obligations in relation to such lands, build- ings, or improvements. 4. Ji1rom and after the passing of this Act, new New endowed technical colleges which may be established either wholly a co d l m le I . n g~ I s stteorebde or partly out of the moneys of the State shall, llnless by the otherwise determined by the Governor in Council, be Corporation. under the charge of and shall be administered by the Corporation. 5. The Governor in Council may from time to time Regulations. make. regulations with respect to all or an~ T of the following rpatters; namely:- . (a) The appointment of committees of manage- ment of colleges and institutions established for the purpose of technical instruction which are under the charge of and administered by the Oorporation, and prescribing the duties of such committees; (b) ~ rhe appointment of the teaching staff and such other officers and servants thereof as may be necessary;

(c) The syllabus of instruction; (d) The fees to be paid for instruction; (e) The holding- of examinations and the granting of certificates and diplomas; (/) The establishment of branch classes, continua- tion classes, or any other educational institutions in connection with any such technical college or institution; (g) Generally for the management, good govern- ment, and discipline of the same. All such regulations, upon being published in the Gazette, shall have the' same effect as if they were enacted in this Act, and shall be judicially noticed in all courts of justice, and shall not be questioned in ahy proceedings whatsoever. All such regulations shall be laid before both Houses of Parliament within forty days after the making thereof if Parliament is then in session, or, if not, then within forty days after the commencement of the next session thereof. Amendment 6. In section eleven of the Principal Act, after the of s. 11. word" teachers" in paragraph (c) the words ".and their salaries and emoluments" are inserted; also, after para- graph (e), the following paragraph is inserted : - (/) The fees to be paid for instruction. Expenses. 7. The expenses of carrying tbis Act into effect shall be defrayed out of moneys to be from time to time appropriated by Parliament for the purpose. ENTERPRISES, STATE. See TRADE.
