His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Technical and Further Education Commission Act 1990.

Explanatory note

Under clause 4 of the Technical and Further Education Commission (Temporary Staff) Regulation 1997, the TAFE Commission may alter the status of certain of its employees from long-term temporary employees to permanent staff members—provided they consent and the alteration is made within 6 months of the commencement of that Regulation (ie before 3 April 1998). The object of this Regulation is to extend (until 9 July 1998) the period within which the Commission may make such an alteration.

This Regulation is made under the Technical and Further Education Commission Act 1990, including section 17 (regulations relating to staff) and section 36 (the general regulation-making power).

1 Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Technical and Further Education
Commission (Temporary Staff) Amendment Regulation 1998.

2 Amendment of Technical and Further Education Commission (Temporary Staff) Regulation 1997

The Technical and Further Education Commission (Temporary Staff) Regulation 1997 is amended as set out in Schedule 1.

The explanatory note does not form part of this Regulation.

(Clause 2)

Clause 4 Change of status of temporary staff members to permanent status

Omit clause (4) (b). Insert instead:

(b) may only be made within the period starting on the commencement of this Regulation and ending at midnight on 9 July 1998.
