An Act to amend the Teaching Service Act, 1970, consequent on

the enactment of the Government and Related Employees

Appeal Tribunal Act, 1980. [Assented to, 28th April, 1980.]

Teaching Service {Appeal Tribunal) Amendment.

BE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—

1.           This Act may be cited as the “Teaching Service (Appeal Short title.

Tribunal) Amendment Act, 1980”.

2.      (1) This section and section 1 shall commence on the date Commence-

of assent to this Act.

(2) Except as provided by subsection (1), this Act shall commence on the day appointed and notified under section 2 (2) of the Government and Related Employees Appeal Tribunal Act, 1980.

3.           The Teaching Service Act, 1970, is amended in the manner Amendment

set forth in Schedule 1.

(1) Section 22 (1), (2 )—

Omit the subsections.

(2) Section 23 (7 )—

Omit “Crown Employees Appeal Board”, insert instead

“Government and Related Employees Appeal Tribunal”.

(2) Nothing in subseetion (1) prevents an offieer from making an appeal under the Government and Related Employees Appeal Tribunal Act, 1980, against a decision or determination, under section 27, of the Director-General to appoint an officer to a vacancy in an office in a section of the Teaching Service where the name of the first- mentioned offieer—

(a) is on the promotions list for that section; and

(b)

is higher in order on that promotions list than the name of the secondmentioned officer.

(5) Section 47 (2 )—

Omit the subsection.
