An Act to make further provisions with respect to the appoint­

ment of persons to the Teaching Service; for this purpose

to amend the Teaching Service Act, 1970; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 14th April, 1975.]

O E it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, b> No. 28, 1975 follows : —

1. This Act may be cited as the “Teaching Service short

(Amendment) Act, 1975”.

2. The Teaching Service Act, 1970, is amended by Amendment

inserting after section 24 the following section ;—

Sec. 24a.

24a. In making an appointment to an office under Appoint-

section 23 or 24, the Director-General may, notwith­

standing any other law (including any order or award 23 or 24.

made under any Act), select for the appointment a

person who has the appropriate qualifications and—

(a) who—

(i)   has a prior contract with the Director- General for his employment in an office in the Teaching Service; or

(ii)   under a contract with Her Majesty may, in the circumstances specified in the contract, be required to enter upon duty in an office in the Teaching Service; or

(b)

who, in the opinion of the Director-General, is the most suitable person for appointment to

that office.
