TAXI-CAR CONTROL AMENDMENT

ACT

No. 63 of 1987

AN ACT to amend the Taxi-car Control Act 1985.

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the

advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Taxi-car Control Amendment Act

Section 66 amended

2. Section 66 of the Taxi-car Control Act 1985* is amended in

subsection (1) by

(a) deleting paragraph (h) and substituting the following paragraphs

(t (h) regulating the conduct and behaviour of passengers in

taxi-cars;

(ha) prohibiting persons from evading or attempting to evade the payment of fares or charges for taxi-car services; "; and

(b) deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraph

'C (1) creating offences and prescribing in respect of an

offence created-

(i) under paragraph (ha) a penalty of $500; or

(ii)  otherwise than under paragraph (ha) a penalty of $100 for a first such offence and a penalty of $200 for a second or subsequent such offence. ".
