Taxi and Private Hire Car Regulations² (Amendment)

I, JOHN JOSEPH BROWN, the Minister of State for the Arts, Sport, the Environment, Tourism and Territories, hereby make the following Regulations under the Motor Traffic Ordinance 1936.

Principal Regulations

1.  In these Regulations, “Principal Regulations” means the Taxi and Private Hire Car Regulations.

Interpretation

2.  Regulation 4 of the Principal Regulations is amended by inserting in subregulation (1) the following definition in its appropriate alphabetical position:

“ ‘public holiday’ means a day that is observed as a public holiday in the Territory in accordance with the Holidays Ordinance 1958;”.

Taxi fares

3.  Regulation 24 of the Principal Regulations is amended:

(a)by omitting subregulations (2) and (3) and substituting the following subregulation:

“(2)  On a journey by a taxi, the flag-fall or hiring charge is:

(a)if the journey commenced between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. on any day other than a public holiday—$1.50;

(b)if the journey commenced at any other time on any day other than a public holiday—$2.40; or

(c)if the journey commenced at any time on a public holiday—$2.40.”;

(b)by omitting from subregulations (4) and (5) “, excluding the first kilometre,”; and

(c)by omitting from subregulation (10) “50” and substituting “60”.

Schedule

4.  Schedule 2 to the Principal Regulations is repealed and the following Schedule substituted:

FLAG-FALL:

1.	For journey commencing between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. on any day other than a public holiday ..............................................................	$1.50
2.	For journey commencing at any other time on any day other than a public holiday .................................................................................	$2.40
3.	For journey commencing at any time on a public holiday ...............	$2.40

RADIO BOOKING.........................................................................................................     60 cents

KILOMETRE RATES:

1.	Single hiring ...........................................................................................	60 cents
2.	Multiple hiring .......................................................................................	45 cents
