Pipe in connection with the Sydney Water Supply, between Potts’ Hill in the parish of Liberty Plains and Crown-street, in the city of Sydney, county of Cumlierland. [80̂ /̂ September, 1889.]

| certain proposed Public Work, namely, “a second pipe between Potts’ Hill and Crown-street in connection with the Sydney Water Supply,” was, on the twenty-fourth day of July in the year one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, duly submitted and explained by the Secretary for Public Works in the Legislative Assembly, and such work was thereupon, on the motion of the said Minister, referred to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works, which Committee re])orted thereon to the said Assembly in the following terms, namely:—“ That the Committee consider it expedient that the laying of the second line of pipes between Potts’ Hill and Crown-street as proposed on the plan and explained in the evidence before the Committee he carried out” ; And whereas, on the seventh day of November, in the |

year one thousand eight hundred and eigiity-eight the said Assembly by resolution declared “ That in accordance with the Report from the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works, it is expedient to lay a second line of pipes between Potts’ Hill and Crown-street, in connection wdth the Sydney Water Supply referred to the Committee for inquiry at a total estimated cost of One hundred and sixty-five thousand pounds.” And the said resolution was notified in the Gazette on the eighth day of November in the said year. And wliereas, pur suant to the said Act, it lias become the duty of the Minister to introduce a Bill into the said Assembly to sanction the carrying out of such work as aforesaid; Be it therefore enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South 'Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follow's :—
1. This Act may ho cited as the “ Sydney Water Supply (Partial short title.
Duplication) Act of 1889,” and shall he read with the “ Public Works

2. The Public "Work more particularly described in the Schedule work to bo carried
| the Member of the Executive Council for the time being charged with the duties of the said Minister. And such Minister or Member shall, for the purposes of this Act and the “ Public Works Act of 1888,” be deemed and taken to he the “ Constructing Authority ” authorized to enter into contracts and to exercise all powers, do all acts and things, and be responsible in respect of all obligations and liabilities Avhich can be done or incurred by a “ Constructing | to this Aet shall be carried out by the Secretary for Public M^orks, or o’**:- Aet, so far as may be necessary for the carrying out of the Avork hereby sanctioned. SCHEDULE.
Sydney Water Supply.
Duplicatc-pipo line between Potts’ Hill and Crown-street tlirough the parishes of Liberty
Plains, Petersham, and Alexandria, in the county of Cumberland.
1. The procuring and laying of a forty-cight-inoh cast-iron main pipe, to meet the requirements of Sydney and its suburbs in the event of an accident happening to the existing single pipe, and also in anticipation of the time when a single pipe will not deliver an adequate supply of water for the use of the inhabitants of the said city and suburbs.
2. Tlic direction to be taken by the pipe is generally through streets, but in some instances through private property. The pipe line (not yet exactly determined) will follow one of the dotted lines shown on the jdan described in section two of this Act.
