Legislative Assembly did, by resolution, declare that it was expedient to carry out a certain work, namely, the duplication of the main from Prospect to Potts’ Hill in connection with tlie Sydney Water Supply, as referred by the Legislative Assembly to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works : And whereas on the passing of that resolution, a statutory duty was by the said

Sydney Water Supply Conduit Additional Works.

Act imposed on the Secretary for Public Works to introduce a Bill into the said Assembly to sanction the carrying out of the said 'vvork : Be it therefore enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and until the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legis­ lative Assembly of New South "NVales in Barliamcnt assembled, and by the authority of the same, ns follows :—

Work sanctioned.

1. The canying out of the said work more particularly described in the Schedule to this Act is hereby sanctioned; and the Secretary for Public 'Works, or the Member of the Executive Council for the time being performing the duties of the said Secretary, is hereby authorised to undertake and carry out the said work, suliject to the provisions of this Act, and for that purpose shall lie and shall have the powers and duties of a constructing authority Avithin the meaning of the Public “Works Act of 1888.

Plan of work.

2. The plan of the said rvork is the plan marked “ Sydney Water Supply—Plan of existing canal and proposed duplicate pipe line,” signed by the Secretary for Public "Works and countersigned by the Engineer-in-Chief for Public "\Yorks, and deposited in the office of the said Secretary.

Cost liow dofrajcd.

3. The cost of carrying out the said work, estimated at one hundred and nine thousand three hundred and seventeen pounds, may be defrayed from sucli Loan Votes as arc now or may hereafter bo applicable to the purpose aforesaid, but shall not, under any circum­ stances, exceed the estimated cost by more than ten per centum.

4. On the completion of the said Avork, the Governor shall fortliAvith notify the same in the Gazette.

being made, the property in the said AVork shall, by virtue of this Act alone, be A'csted in the Board of Water Supply and SeAverage con­ stituted under the ^letropolitan IVater and ScAverage Act of 1880

for and on behalf of Her Majesty.

5. This Act may he cited as the “ Sydney "Water Supply Conduit Additional "Works Act, 1897,” and shall he construed Avith the Metro­ politan Water and SeAA'erage Acts, 1S80-1S89, and the Metropolitan Water and ScAverage Act Extension Act of 1891.
