| No. 44. | i l by and with the advice and consent of the Legis lative Council and Legi.slative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament a.ssemlded, and by the authority of the same, as follows :— |
| Short title. | 1 . This Act may he cited as the “ Sydney Water Supply (Auxiliary) Act, 1916,” and shall he construed with the Metropolitan Water and Sewerage Acts, 1880-1916. |
| W ork | 2. The work described in the Schedule to this Act is |
| .sanctioned. | herehy sanctioned, and shall be deemed to be an anthorised work within the meaning of the Public "Works Act, 1912, hut the provisions of sections thirty- four, thirty-five, thirty-six and thirty-seven of that Act shall not apply to the said work, and the provisions of section tliirty-eight shall a}>ply to any contracts for carrying out such work. |
| The Minister for Public Works, or the member of the Executive Council for the time being performing the duties of tlic said Minister, is hereby authorised to undertake find carry out the said work, subject to the provisions of this Act, and for that purpose shall be and shall have the powers of a Constructing Authority within the meaning of the Public M^orks Act, 1912. |

“ Sydney "Water Supply (Auxiliary) Plan sliowing pro posed pipe line from Nepean River,” signed by the Minister for Public Works, and countersigned by the Engineer in Chief, Metropolitan Board of Water Supply and Sewerage, and deposited in the public office of the said Alinister.
Cost, and
| how to be | 4. The cost of carrying out the said work, estimated |
| defrayed. | at one hundred and fifty-one thousand pounds (exclusive of land resumptions), may be defrayed from such Loan "V̂ otes as are now or may hereafter be applicable to the purpose, or from appropriations of the Public "Works Eund, or partly from such votes and partly from such appropriations, and shall not hinder any circumstances exceed the estimated cost by more than ten per centum. |
