all Jus t i ces of t h e Peace for t h e Ci ty of Sydney should be empowered to adjudicate upon and otherwise to act in respect of divers m a t t e r s which can a t present only be adjudicated upon or acted in by Jus t i ces of t h e Peace so as aforesaid appoin ted to execute t h e dut ies of Police Magis t r a t e s Be i t therefore enacted by H i s Exce l lency t h e Governor of N e w

full effect any of t he m a t t e r s aforesaid as every such J u s t i c e of t h e Peace for t h e said city could have t aken received heard de te rmined or adjudicated upon or jo ined in t a k i n g receiving hea r ing de t e rmin ing or

have preven ted repressed or pun i shed or jo ined in p reven t ing repress ing or pun i sh ing or could have g ran ted made or issued or jo ined in g r a n t i n g m a k i n g or i ssuing or could have done executed exercised or performed or jo ined in doing execu t ing exercis ing or performing and in such and the same m a n n e r in all respects to all i n t en t s and purposes whatsoever as if every such Jus t i ce of the Peace for t h e said city had been and was duly appoin ted to perform the duties of a Police
2. Provided always and bo it fur ther enacted Tha t n o t h i n g heroin conta ined shall au thor ize any such Jus t i ce of the Peace to act or t ake par t in or to do perform or execute any m a t t e r or t h i n g which any such Jus t i ce of the Peace is or may he prohib i ted from ac t ing or t a k i n g pa r t in or doing performing or execut ing by reason of any o ther cause t h a n not hav ing been or not being so appoin ted to perform the
| dut ies of | a Police Magis t r a t e as aforesaid but | t ha t every such | J u s t i c e |
| of t he Peace shall be subject to such and the same p u n i s h m e n t | penal t ies |
and liabili t ies for ac t ing or t a k i n g pa r t in or doing per forming or execu t ing any mat t e r or t h ing which any such Jus t i ce of the Peace is or may be prohibi ted from act ing or t ak ing pa r t in or doing performing or execut ing by reason of any other cause; than no t having been or not being so appointed to perform the dut ies of a Police Magis t ra te as aforesaid as if th i s A c t had not been passed.
