Surveyors (Amendment) Ordinance 1984

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910.

Short title
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Surveyors (Amendment) Ordinance 1984.1
Commencement
2. This Ordinance shall come into operation on 1 July 1984.
Principal Ordinance
3. In this Ordinance, “Principal Ordinance” means the Surveyors Ordinance 1967.2
Mode of registration
4. Section 16 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from sub-section (3) “prescribed fee” and substituting “fee determined by the Minister under section 52A for the purposes of this sub-section”.
Payment of annual registration fee
5. Section 19 of the Principal Ordinance is amended—
(a)by omitting from sub-section (1) “prescribed annual registration fee” and substituting “fee determined by the Minister under section 52A for the purposes of this sub-section”;
(b)by omitting from sub-section (2) “annual registration fee” and substituting “fee determined pursuant to sub-section (1)”; and
(c)by omitting from sub-section (3) “prescribed fee” and substituting “fee determined by the Minister under section 52A for the purposes of this sub-section”.
Collection of fees
6. Section 31 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting “prescribed” and substituting “payable under this Ordinance”.
7. After section 52 of the Principal Ordinance the following section is inserted:
Power of Minister to determine fees
“52A. The Minister may, by notice in writing published in the Gazette, determine fees and charges for the purposes of this Ordinance.”.
Regulations
8. Section 53 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting all the words from and including “relation to” and substituting “relation to the imposition of penalties, not exceeding a fine of $40, for offences against the regulations.”.
