AN ORDINANCE

To amend the Surveyors Ordinance 1967

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910.

SURVEYORS (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1978

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Surveyors (Amendment)

Ordinance 1978.*

2. In this Ordinance, " Principal Ordinance " means the Surveyors

Ordinance 1967.

3.   Section 4 of the Principal Ordinance is amended—

(a)

by inserting after the definition of " certificate of regis­ trat ion" the following definition:

1977.

" 'Department' means the department of State adminis­ tered by the Minister of State for the time being administering this Ordinance;"; and

(b) by inserting after the definition of " registered surveyor " the following definition:

" 'Secretary ' means the person who, for the time being, is, or is performing the duties of, the Permanent Head of the Department within the meaning of the Public Service Act 1922;"

4.   Section 14 of the Principal Ordinance is amended— (a) by omitting " to the Department of the Interior "; and

(b)

by omitting " who is an officer of the Department of the Interior ".

5. Section 17 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting

from paragraph (1) (a ) " twenty-one " and substituting " 18 ".

6. Section 44 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting

from paragraph (2) (a) " of the Interior ".
