Survey Co-ordination Amendment Regulations 2018

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Survey Co-ordination Regulations 2014 to refer to the Map Grid of Australia 2020 (MGA2020).

2Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 22 of the Survey Co-ordination Act 1958.

3Commencement

These Regulations come into operation on 1 November 2018.

4Principal Regulations

In these Regulations, the Survey Co-ordination Regulations 2014[1] are called the Principal Regulations.

5Definitions

(1)In regulation 3 of the Principal Regulations, for the definition of Map Grid of Australia 1994 (MGA94) substitute—

"Map Grid of Australia 2020 (MGA2020) means the system of rectangular co-ordinates derived from a Universal Transverse Mercator projection of latitudes and longitudes that are based on the Geocentric Datum of Australia 2020 (GDA2020) within the meaning of the National Measurement (Recognized-Value Standard of Measurement of Position) Determination 2017 dated 11 October 2017 and registered on the Federal Register of Legislation on 13 October 2017;".

(2)In regulation 3 of the Principal Regulations, in the definition of standard traverse, for "Australian Map Grid or the Map Grid of Australia 1994 (MGA94)" substitute "Map Grid of Australia 2020 (MGA2020)".

6Bearings of surveys

In regulation 10(1) of the Principal Regulations, for "Australian Map Grid or the Map Grid of Australia 1994 (MGA94)" substitute "Map Grid of Australia 2020 (MGA2020)".

7Plan forms

(1)In regulation 14(b) of the Principal Regulations—

(a)omit "Australian Map Grid Zone 54,";

(b)for "1994 (MGA94)" (where twice occurring) substitute "2020 (MGA2020)";

(c)omit "Australian Map Grid Zone 55,".

(2)In regulation 14(d) of the Principal Regulations—

(a)omit "Australian Map Grid or";

(b)for "1994 (MGA94)" substitute "2020 (MGA2020)".

8Schedule 3 amended

In Schedule 3 to the Principal Regulations, for "MGA94" substitute "MGA2020".

9Schedule 4 amended

In Schedule 4 to the Principal Regulations, in the heading to Column 2, for "AMG Zone/ MGA94" substitute "MGA2020".
