Surveillance Devices Amendment Regulations 2025

The Lieutenant-Governor as the Governor's deputy, with the advice of the Executive Council, makes the following Regulations:

1Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Surveillance Devices Regulations 2016 to prescribe an additional purpose for which local protected information obtained from the use of a body-worn camera or tablet computer by a police officer may be used, communicated or published.

2Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 37A of the Surveillance Devices Act 1999.

3Commencement

These Regulations come into operation on 30 September 2025.

4Prescribed purposes for the use, communication or publication of local protected information

In regulation 11(1) of the Surveillance Devices Regulations 2016[1]—

(a)in paragraph (i), for "2005." substitute "2005;";

(b)after paragraph (i) insert—

"(j)the preparation of a transport power report under section 85 of the Youth Justice Act 2024.".
