s1 4 s3 Supreme Court of Queensland Act and Another No. 46, 1998 Act Amendment The Parliament of Queensland enacts— PART 1—PRELIMINARY ˙ Short title 1. This Act may be cited as the Supreme Court of Queensland Act and Another Act Amendment Act 1998 . PART 2—AMENDMENT OF CORONERS ACT 1958 ˙ Act amended in pt 2 2. This part amends the Coroners Act 1958 . ˙ Insertion of new s 62 3. Part 18— insert— ˙ ‘ Transitional declaration—deaths before 1 December 1998 ‘ 62.(1) This section applies on or after 1 December 1998 in relation to the body of a person who died before 1 December 1998. ‘ (2) A permission and certificate to cremate the body may be given, and may always have been given, and the body may be cremated and may always have been cremated, as if the Justice Legislation (Miscellaneous
s4 5 s5 Supreme Court of Queensland Act and Another No. 46, 1998 Act Amendment Provisions) Act 1996 had not been enacted. 1 ‘ (3) To remove doubt it is declared that subsection (2) does not prevent the giving of a permission and certificate to cremate, or the cremation of a body, in accordance with section 23A. 2 ‘ (4) This section expires on 31 March 1999.’. PART 3—AMENDMENT OF SUPREME COURT OF QUEENSLAND ACT 1991 ˙ Act amended in pt 3 4. This part amends the Supreme Court of Queensland Act 1991 . ˙ Amendment of s 118B (Court rules are exempt from RIS requirements and automatic expiry) 5. Section 118B(2)(b), ‘31 December 1998’— omit, insert— ‘30 June 1999’. © State of Queensland 1998 1 The Justice Legislation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1996 provides for the repeal of the Cremation Act 1913 after amending it and relocating part of it to this Act.
