Supreme Court (Chapter II Order 14 Objections Amendment) Rules 2020

The Judges of the Supreme Court make the following Rules:

1Object

The object of these Rules is to amend Order 14 of Chapter II of the Rules of the Supreme Court in relation to objections to the Supreme Court to the admission of a person to the legal profession.

2Authorising provisions

These Rules are made under section 25 of the Supreme Court Act 1986, section 16 of the Legal Profession Uniform Law (Victoria) and all other enabling powers.

3Commencement

These Rules come into operation on 1 December 2020.

4Objections

For Rule 14.07(2) of the Supreme Court (Miscellaneous Civil Proceedings) Rules 2018[1] substitute—

"(2)For the purpose of section 16(3) of the Legal Profession Uniform Law (Victoria), an objection shall be made no later than 14 days after the provision of the compliance

certificate to the Court in accordance with section 16(1)(a) of the Uniform Law.

Note

Receipt of the compliance certificate will be published on the Court's website.".
