[A ssented to 14 th D ecember , I960.] E it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, B by and with the advice and consent of the Legis­ lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:— 1. (1.) This Act may be cited as The Supreme Short title. Court Acts Amendment Act of 1960,” and shall be read as one with “ The Supreme Court Acte, 1861 to 1958.” The Supreme Court Acte, 1861 to 1958,” and this Coiieotiv. Act may be collectively cited as The Supreme Court Acte, 1861 to 1960.”

Sections two and three of this Act shall be Retroapeo- deemed to have come into force on and from the fourth option, day of July, one thousand nine hundred and sixty, and shall operate retrospectively accordingly. (3.) Section five of this Act shall be deemed to have come into force on and from the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and sixty, and shall operate retrospectively accordingly. 2. (1.) The salary of the Chief Justice of Queensland Salaries of shall be at the rate of six thousand four hundred pounds per annum. Courfc- (2.) The salaries of Puisne Judges of the Supreme Court of Queensland shall be at the rate of five thousand nine hundred pounds per annum. 3. The Supreme Court Acts Amendment Act of Repeal of 1958” is repealed. ^U7Z;IL 4. Section twelve of The Supreme Court Act of Amendment 1867 ” is amended by— No? 2 pC’ (а) Repealing the words “ or place ” ; (б) Adding the following proviso and paragraph :— “ Provided that a Judge of the said Court shall not receive or be entitled to any remuneration or emolument (apart from reasonable travelling expenses) in respect of his performing, after the passing of The Supreme Court Acts Amendment Act of 1960,” the duties of any other office granted to or cast upon such Judge as aforesaid, whether before or after the passing of that Act, save that nothing in this proviso shall affect any such office granted or which may be granted to such Judge under Her Majesty’s sign manual. . It is hereby declared that any office to which any Judge of the said Court shall have been appointed, prior to the passing of “ The Supreme Court Acts Amendment Act of 1960,” by the Governor in Council pursuant to

No. 87, 1960. the provisions of an Act of Parliament which authorises the appointment of a Judge of the Supreme Court to that office shall have been always and shall be an office cast upon that Judge by law within the meaning of this section.” Repeal of 5.
