Supreme Court Acts Amendment Act of 1955 (4 Eliz II No. 19)
SUPREME COURT. 4 E liz . II. No. 19, 1955. Supreme Court Acts Amendment Act. Commonwealth may, subject to this section, be admitted to practise as a conveyancer and issued with a certificate under section forty-two of *“ The Supreme Court Act of 1867.” Application for such admission and certificate shall be made to the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Brisbane. Excepting the provisions thereof relating to the certificate mentioned in rule forty-four, the rules relating to the admission of conveyancers of the Supreme Court of Queensland as in force on the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and forty, shall apply with respect to such an application. The said Registrar may, and shall at the request of the applicant, refer such an application to a Judge of the Supreme Court for his opinion thereon, and the Registrar shall act upon that opinion. 445 An Act relating to the Salaries Payable to the Judges of the Supreme Court of Queensland. E it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, B by and with the advice and consent of the Legis­ lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—■ 1 . (1.) This Act may be cited as The Supreme short title Court Acts Amendment Act of 1955,” and shall be read as construction, one with f“ The Supreme Court Acts, 1861 to 1953.” The Supreme Court Acts, 1861 to 1953,” and this Collective Act may be collectively cited as The Supreme Court 1 e' Acts, 1861 to 1955.” (2.) This Act shall be deemed to have come into Commence, force on and from the first day of October, one thousand men ’ nine hundred and fifty-four, and shall operate retrospectively accordingly. * 31 V. 446 SUPREME COURT. Supreme, Court Acts Amendment Act. 4 E liz . II. No. 19, 1955. Salaries of Judges of the Supreme Court. 2. (1.) Subject to subsection two of this section— (a) The salary of the Chief Justice of Queensland shall be at the rate of four thousand two hundred and eighty-eight pounds per annum ; and ( b) The salaries of the Puisne Judges of the Supreme Court shall be at the rate of three thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight pounds per annum. (2.) The rates for the time being of the salaries respectively of the Chief Justice of Queensland and of the Puisne Judges of the Supreme Court shall, as on and from the first day of July of each and every year, commencing with the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-five, be increased or, as the case may be, decreased by the amount calculated on an annual basis to the nearest pound by which the basic wage for males declared by the Industrial Court under *“ The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Acts, 1932 to 1953,” shall have been increased or decreased during the preceding period of twelve months.
