This notice may be cited as the Superannuation (State Public Sector) Amendment Notice (No. 1) 1997 . ˙ Commencement 2. Sections 4 to 6 commence on 1 February 1997. ˙ Notice amended 3. This notice amends the Superannuation (State Public Sector) Notice 1996 . ˙ Amendment of s 4 (Compulsory membership) 4. Section 4(4)— omit, insert— ‘ (4) This section does not apply to— (a) a QR employee who was not a member of the scheme on 31 January 1995; and (b) a person to whom section 6B applies.’. ˙ Amendment of s 5 (Discretionary membership—general) 5. Section 5(4), ‘6 and 6A’— omit, insert— ‘6 to 6B’. ˙ Insertion of new s 6B 6. After section 6A— insert—

s7 3 s8 Superannuation (State Public Sector) Amendment (No. 1) No. 19, 1997 ˙ ‘ Discretionary membership—employees of WorkCover Queensland ‘ 6B.(1) This section applies to a person who— (a) was not a member of the scheme on 31 January 1997; and (b) starts employment with WorkCover Queensland on or after 1 February 1997; and (c) is approved by the board of WorkCover Queensland to be a member of the scheme. ‘ (2) The person is eligible to become a member of the scheme. ‘ (3) The person’s membership of the scheme is discretionary.’. ˙ Amendment of sch 1 (Compulsory membership) 7.
