Superannuation Act 1916—Order
GORDON SAMUELS, Governor.
I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 92 of the Superannuation Act 1916, do, by this my Order, amend Schedule 3 to that Act (List of Employers) by inserting at the end of Part 1 of that Schedule the following name:
Garvan Institute of Medical Research (limited to those persons:
(a)
who were employees of that Institute immediately before 1997, and
(b) who were members of the Fund immediately before that date) Signed at Sydney, this 17th day of December 1997.

Explanatory note
Under the Superannuation Act 1916, employers within the meaning of the Act are required to make superannuation contributions in respect of certain
of their employees to the State Superannuation Fund kept under the Act.
Schedule 3 to the Act lists organisations and bodies that are employers for the purposes of the Act. Section 92 of the Act authorises the Governor-in-Council, by order, to amend that Schedule.

Explanatory note
The object of this Order is to include in the Schedule as an employer the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and to limit the application of the provisions of the Act to those persons who were employees of that Institute and contributors to the Fund at the relevant date referred to in this Order.
