His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Summary Offences Act 1988.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to exempt plastic knives that are designed for eating purposes from the operation of section 10AB of the Summary Offences Act 1988. That section makes it an offence for a person to sell a knife or knife blade to a child under the age of 16 years.
This Regulation is made under the Summary Offences Act 1988, including sections 10AB and 35 (the general regulation-making power).

1 Name of Regulation
This Regulation is the Summary Offences (General) Amendment
(Exempt Knives) Regulation 1998.
2 Commencement
This Regulation commences on 1 May 1998.
3 Amendment of Summary Offences (General) Regulation 1995
The Summary Offences (General) Regulation 1995 is amended as set out i n Schedule 1 .

Section 10AB of the Act does not apply to plastic knives that are designed for eating purposes.
