1.Objective
The objective of these Regulations is to extend the operation of Firearms Regulations 1997[1] for the period specified in regulation 3.
2.Authorising provisions
These Regulations are made under sections 5 and 28 of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1994.
3.Extension of operation
The operation of the Firearms Regulations 1997 is extended for the period beginning on the day on which they would otherwise be revoked by virtue of section 5 of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1994 and ending on 21 April 2008.

1. General Information
The Subordinate Legislation (Firearms Regulations 1997 - Extension of Operation) Regulations 2006, S.R. No. 126/2006 were made on 26 September 2006 by the Governor in Council, on the certificate and recommendation of the Minister for Police and Emergency Services, under sections 5 and 28 of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1994, No. 104/1994 and came into operation on 26 September 2006.
The Subordinate Legislation (Firearms Regulations 1997 - Extension of Operation) Regulations 2006 will sunset 10 years after the day of making on 26 September 2016 (see section 5 of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1994).
2. Table of Amendments
There are no amendments made to the Subordinate Legislation (Firearms Regulations 1997 - Extension of Operation) Regulations 2006 by statutory rules, subordinate instruments and Acts.
