REGULATIONS UNDER THE STUDENT ASSISTANCE ACT 1973*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Student Assistance Act 1973.

AMENDMENTS OF THE STUDENT ASSISTANCE REGULATIONS 

Commencement

1. These Regulations shall come into operation on 1 January 1981.

Interpretation

2. Regulation 29 of. the Student Assistance Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (6) “ $1,500 ” and substituting “ $2,000 ”;

(b) by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (7) “ $2,075 ” and substituting “ $2,310 ”;

(c) by omitting from paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (7) “ $1,250 ” and substituting “ $1,402 ”;

(d) by omitting from paragraph (c) of sub-regulation (7) “ $2,348 ” and substituting “ $2,583 ”; and

(e) by omitting from sub-regulation (8) “ $150 ” and substituting “ $500 ”.

Living allowance-students deemed to be of independent status

3. Regulation 41 of the Student Assistance Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (3ab) “ $9,400 ” and substituting “ $10,312 ”;

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (5) “ $31.40 ” and substituting “ $42.70 ”; and

(e) by omitting from sub-regulation (6) “ $7.50 ” and substituting “ $10 ”.

Living allowance— other students

4. Regulation 42 of the Student Assistance Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (6) “ $9,400 ” and substituting “ $10,312 ”;

(b) by omitting from paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (6) “ $9,400 ” and substituting “ $10,312 ”;

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (15a.) “ 1,500 ” and substituting “ $2,000 ”; and

(d) by omitting from sub-regulation (16) “ $7.50 ” and substituting “ $10 ”.

Living allowance

5. Regulation 70 of the Student Assistance Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (a) of sub-regulation. (2) “ $5,832.80 ” and substituting “ $6,840.4 0”;

(b) by omitting from sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (2) “ $5,832.80 ” and substituting “ $6,840.40 ”;

(c) by omitting from sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (2) “ $390 ” and substituting “ $520 ”;

(d) by omitting from paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (2) “ $4,200 ” and substituting “ $4,620 ”;

(e) by omitting from paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (2) “ $390” and substituting “ $520 ”;

(f) by omitting from paragraph (c) of sub-regulation (2) “ $4,200” and substituting “ $4,620 ”;

(g) by omitting from paragraph (c) of sub-regulation (2) “ $390” and substituting “$520 ”;

(h) by omitting from sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (d) of sub-regulation (2) “ $4,200 ” and substituting “ $4,620 ”;

(i)by omitting from sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (d) of sub-regulation (2) “ $390 ” and substituting “ $520 ”;

 

(j) by omitting from sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph (d) of sub-regulation (2) “ $4,200 ” and substituting, “ $4,620 ”;

(k) by omitting from sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph (d) of sub-regulation (2) “ $1,632.80 ” and substituting “ $2,220.40 ”;

(1) by omitting from sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph (d) of sub-regulation (2) “ $390 ” and substituting6 “ $520 ”; and

(m) by omitting from paragraph (c) of sub-regulation (2) “ $4,200 ” and substituting “ $4,620 ”.
