(Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Student Assistance Act 1973.

1. After regulation 43b of the Student Assistance Regulations the following regulation is inserted:

Living allowance: certain secondary students

“43ba. (1) Where:

(a) a year 11 secondary student was in receipt of living allowance paid to the student as an unsupported student under the Commonwealth Secondary Allowances Scheme during 1986;

(b) the student undertakes a year 12 course of secondary education in 1987; and

(c) the student continues to be eligible for payment of the allowance; then, subject to subsection (2), Assistance calculated in accordance with regulation 42 is payable to the student during 1987.

“(2) In calculating the amount of Assistance payable under subregulation (1), paragraph 42 (3) (a) shall be disregarded.”

Application

2. Notwithstanding the amendments of the Student Assistance Regulations made by regulation 11 of Statutory Rules 1985 No. 372, regulation 7 of, and Schedule 3 to, the Student Assistance Regulations shall, for all purposes, be taken to have applied in relation to Central Coast Secretarial College

from and including 1 January 1985 to and including 5 February 1985 as if the amendment to the Student Assistance Regulations made by paragraph 11 (a) of those Statutory Rules had not been made.
