s1 3 s4 Stock (Cattle Tick) Amendment (No. 1) No. 244, 1998 ˙ Short title 1. This notice may be cited as the Stock (Cattle Tick) Amendment Notice (No. 1) 1998 . ˙ Notice amended 2. This notice amends the Stock (Cattle Tick) Notice 1993 . ˙ Amendment of s 5 (Definitions) 3.(1) Section 5— insert— ‘ “cattle tick infected area” see section 50. “low risk meatworks” see section 5A. “low risk saleyard” see section 5B.’. (2) Section 5, definition “second removed property ”, ‘a property’— omit, insert— ‘a property, other than a property in a provisionally protected area or an eradication area’. ˙ Insertion of new ss 5A and 5B 4. Part 3— insert— ˙ ‘ Meaning of “low risk meatworks” ‘ 5A. A meatworks is a “low risk meatworks” if— (a) the chief inspector is satisfied there is a very low risk of cattle tick escaping from the meatworks to another stock holding area; and (b) the meatworks is included in a list of low risk meatworks held in the department.

s5 4 s6 Stock (Cattle Tick) Amendment (No. 1) No. 244, 1998 ˙ ‘ Meaning of “low risk saleyard” ‘ 5B. A saleyard is a “low risk saleyard” if— (a) the chief inspector is satisfied there is a very low risk of cattle tick escaping from the saleyard to another stock holding area; and (b) the saleyard is included in a list of low risk saleyards held in the department.’. ˙ Amendment of ss 10 and 22 5.(1) Sections 10(b) and 22(b), ‘held in’— omit, insert— ‘whether held inside or outside’. (2) Sections 10 and 22, after paragraph (c)— insert— ‘ Examples for paragraph (b)— 1. A racehorse would not need to undergo the inspection and treatment if the racehorse is usually kept in the protected area and is conveyed directly to and from a race meeting held outside the protected area. 2. A racehorse would not need to undergo the inspection and treatment if the racehorse is usually kept outside the protected area and is conveyed directly to and from a race meeting held in the protected area. ’. ˙ Amendment of s 23 (Stock not requiring treatment or inspection) 6. Section 23— insert— ‘ (2) Also, stock from the infected area that are to be conveyed directly through the protected area to a destination in the Northern Territory need not undergo any inspection or treatment if, under Northern Territory law, the stock need not be inspected or treated.’.

Sections 34(1)(b)(ii), 37(4), 39(4) and 40(2), ‘or Wandoan Saleyards’— omit. ˙ Amendment of s 42 (Movement of stock from infected property undergoing approved program) 8. Section 42(3), after ‘infected area’— insert— ‘or a low risk saleyard’. ˙ Amendment of s 44 (Movement of stock from first removed or provisionally clean property) 9. Section 44(1)(b), ‘meatworks or to’— omit, insert— ‘meatworks, a low risk saleyard or’. ˙ Amendment of s 45 (Movement of stock from second removed property) 10. Section 45(2)(c)— omit, insert— ‘(c) Harristown Saleyards, Wandoan Saleyards or a low risk saleyard.’. ˙ Amendment of s 49D (Treatment and inspection requirements) 11. Section 49D(2)(c)— omit, insert— ‘(c) a low risk meatworks or low risk saleyard.’.

Section 49G(3), before ‘meatworks’— insert— ‘low risk’. ˙ Insertion of new s 56 14. After section 55— insert— ˙ ‘ Inspection of lists ‘ 56.
