AN ACT to amend section three of the Stipendiary
Magistrates Act, 1930.

BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty,by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—

This Act may be cited as the Stipendiary Magis- trates Act Amendment Act, 1948, and shall be read as one with the Stipendiary Magistrates Act, 1930 (Act No. 17 of 19301), hereinafter referred to as the principal Act.

| Amendment | 3. Section three of the principal Act is amended by |
deleting the first paragraph (from the words "The rate" in line one to the words "twenty pounds" in line four, both inclusive), and inserting in lieu thereof the para- graph following:
The rate of annual salary payable to each Stipen- diary Magistrate shall be fixed, and may from time to time be increased, by the Governor, but, subject to variation to the extent that the basic wage as declared from time to time by the Court of Arbi- tration for the State shall be varied, shall not be less than six hundred and thirty-six pounds or more than one thousand one hundred and fifty-two pounds, exclusive of any living or other allowances and of any special remuneration for extraneous services as approved by the Minister.
