[A ssented to 22 nd N ovember ^ 1956.] S tatutes A mendment A ct of 1956. B E it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:— 1. This Act may be cited as “ The Statutes short Amendment Act of 1956.” 2. Subsection two of section three of *“ The Aliens Amendment Acts, 1867 to 1952,” is amended by adding thereto the 31 v?.(2) of following paragraph, namely : — No. 28. “ (g) Every application for a permit under this subsection shall be accompanied by the prescribed fee. If the permit is granted the fee shall be plaid into and form part of the Consolidated Revenue Fund, but if the permit is refused the fee shall be refunded to the applicant. The Governor in Council may, from time to time, by Order in Council published in the Gazette prescribe the amount of the fee payable in respect of permits under this subsection. This paragraph applies on and from the date of the publication in the Gazette of the Order in Council first made hereunder.”. * 31 V. No. 28 and amending Acts. A

(1.) *“ The Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages Acts, 1855 to 1948,” are amended— (а) By adding to section seven thereof, the following paragraph, namely:— “ The Governor in Council may from time to time by Order in Council published in the Gazette amend the said schedule by altering the respective amounts of any or all of the fees specified therein, and the said schedule as so amended shall thereupon become for the time being the schedule to this Act marked B and shall have effect accordingly.” ; and (б) By adding to section twenty thereof, the following paragraph, namely :— “In this section schedule B shall, if the schedule to this Act marked B is amended by any Order in Council or Orders in Council, mean that schedule as so amended for the time being.” Amendment (2.) Section three of f“ The Amended Registration No? 7 .Vl° A c £ of 1867 ” is amended by adding thereto the following paragraph, namely— “ The Governor in Council may from time to time by Order in Council published in the Gazette alter the amount of the fee payable under this section, and while such an Order in Council continues in force the amount prescribed therein shall be the amount of the fee payable under this section.” Collective title. (3.) *“ The Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages Acts, 1855 to 1948,” and this section may be collectively cited as “ The Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages Acts, 1855 to 1956.” Amendments 4. (1.) Nofo2. 815V.ic. amended— The Marriage Acts, 1864 to 1948,” are (a) By repealing section thirty-two of the said Acts and inserting, in lieu of that repealed section, the following section, namely :— Marriage fees. “ [32.] The Registrar-General and each district registrar shall, for celebrating any marriage, respectively receive a fee of one pound (or of such amount other than one pound as is prescribed for the time being by Order in Council made under this section). * 19 V. ACTS. 3 1956. Statutes Amendment Act. Every such fee received by the Registrar-General or by a district registrar shall be paid by him into and form part of the Consolidated Revenue Fund. The Governor in Council may from time to time by Order in Council published in the Gazette alter the amount of the fee payable under this section, and while such an Order in Council continues in force the amount prescribed therein shall be the amount of the fee payable under this section.” ; and ( b) By repealing the Schedule to the said Acts marked “ G ”. (2.) *“ The Marriage Acts, 1864 to 1948,” and this section may be collectively cited as “ The Marriage Acts, 1864 to 1956.” 5. (1.) f “The Friendly Societies Acts, 1913 to 1954,” are amended by repealmg in the Second Schedule thereto ko . nT.0' rule thirty-two.
