A STATUTE OF THE QUEENSLAND UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY
Queensland Subordinate Legislation 1991 No. 64 Department of Education Brisbane, 29 August, 1991 HIS Excellency the Governor, acting by and with the advice of the Executive Council and in pursuance of the QueenslandUniversityofTechnology Act 1988 , has been pleased to approve the following Statute of the Queensland University of Technology. PAUL BRADDY Minister for Education A STATUTE OF THE QUEENSLAND UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY WHEREAS by virtue of section 44 of the QueenslandUniversityofTechnologyAct1988 the Council of the Queensland University of Technology may by Statute repeal, rescind, revoke, alter, vary, amend or otherwise modify any Statute or part of a Statute. Now, therefore, the Council of the Queensland University of Technology, by this Statute, hereby amends Statute 6—Convocation, by:— 1. re-numbering sections 1 to 4 as 2 to 5 respectively; 2. inserting the following new section 1:— “1. Aim. In accordance with its prescribed functions Convocation shall have the aim of representing the interests of QUT graduates through its influence in QUT decision-making processes, including those concerned with teaching and applied research areas.”; 3. replacing section 2 (1) with the following:—
2 A Statute of the Queensland University of Technology “(1) Council may at its discretion by resolution admit to membership of Convocation such persons or classes of person not already members of Convocation.”; 4. deleting the second paragraph of section 2 (2); 5. inserting the number “(1)” after the word “Committees.” in section 5; 6. inserting a new sub-section (2) as set out below after section 5 (1):— “(2) The Standing Committee of Convocation may on behalf of Convocation (a) consider any matters relating to the QUT and its affairs and administration and make recommendations to Council in respect of any such considerations particularly in relation to the standard of courses and programs the relevance of curricula and the provision of a quality learning environment; (b) forge relationships with graduates, business, professions, industries, government and other educational institutions in pursuance of Convocation’s aim and in liaison with component units of the QUT and with associated bodies of the QUT.”.
