I , Rear Admiral PETER ROSS SINCLAIR, A.C., Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of Schedule 1 to the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act (No. 2 ) 1993, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 31 January 1994 as the day on which items (3) (a) and (d)–(f) of the amendments to the Geographical Act 1966 set out in that Schedule commence.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Proclamation is to commence the amendments relating to the

constitution of the Geographical Names Board ("the Board"):

1994—No. 26

amendments:
provide for the Deputy Surveyor-General to be an ex-officio member of the
Board (items (3) (a) and (d)); and
provide for the Deputy Surveyor-General to be the deputy chairperson of
the Board instead of the Director of Planning or an officer of the

Department of Planning nominated by the Director (item (3) (e)); and

the New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council instead of by the Minister provide for the fourth appointed member of the Board to be nominated by
(item (3) ( f ) .
