JAMES JACOB SPIGELMAN,
by deputation from His Excellency the Governor
I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC, Governor of the State of New South Wales,
with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of, and
Schedule 2.21 to, the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1997, do, by this

my Proclamation, appoint 1 September 1999 as the day on which Schedule 2.21 to

Signed and sealed at Sydney, this 25th day of August 1999.

By His Excellency's Command,

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!

Explanatory note

The object of this proclamation is to commence the provision of the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1997 that repeals section 97 of the Transport Administration Act 1988. Section 97 created offences concerning failure to pay train fares. Those offences are now created by section 79A of the Rail Safety Act 1993 (inserted in the latter Act by Schedule 2.3 [3] to the Transport Administration (Light Rail) Act 1996).
