STATUTE LAW (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT 1997

No 55—PROCLAMATION

(L.S.) GORDON SAMUELS, Governor.

I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of, and Schedule 1.11 to, the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1997, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1 September 1997 as the day on which Schedule 1.11 [1]-[2] to that Act commences.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Proclamation is to commence the provisions of the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1997 that amend section 56 (Penalty units) of the Interpretation Act 1987. Section 56 as amended will provide that one penalty unit is equivalent to $110. The amendment will not affect the penalty for an offence committed before the commencement of the amendment.
