1996 No 250
New South Wales
STATUTE LAW (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT 1996
No. 30—PROCLAMATION
(L.S.) G. SAMUELS, Governor.
I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels A.C., Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 (2) and Schedule 1 to the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1996, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint I July 1996 as the day on which Schedule 1.27 to that Act commences.
Signed and sealed at Sydney, this 26 day of June 1996.
By His Excellency’s Command,
MICHAEL KNIGHT, MP
Minister for Roads.
GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!
EXPLANATORY NOTE
The object of this Proclamation is to commence a provision of the Statute Law
(Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1996 that inserts section 264A into the Roads Act 1993.
The effect of section 264A is to expand the relevant regulation-making powers in the
Roads Act 1993 so as to enable heavy vehicles to be regulated under a single Act with
the Governor able to make regulations under that Act corresponding with national
regulations that are or can be made under the Road Transport Reform (Vehicles and
Traffic) Act 1993 of the Commonwealth. However, that section will not affect any
comparable power to make such regulations that may exist in the Traffic Act 1909.
