I, Rear Admiral PETER ROSS SINCLAIR, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of Schedule 1 to the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1992, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1st August, 1992 as the day on which the amendment to the District Court Act, 1973 set out in that Schedule commences.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Proclamation is to commence the amendment to the District Court Act 1973 contained in the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1992. The amendment confers on the District Court the same jurisdiction as the Supreme Court has in relation to proceedings under the Fair Trading Act 1987 (provided that
the amount of the claim does not exceed the jurisdictional limit of the District
Court).
