AN
ACT
To amend the States Grants (Housing) Act 1971.
[Assented to 7 June 1973]
BE IT ENACTED by the Queen, the
Senate and the House of Representatives of Australia, as follows:—
Short
title and citation.
1. (1) This Act may be cited as the States Grants (Housing) Act 1973.
(2) The States Grants (Housing) Act 1971 is in
this Act referred to as the Principal Act.
(3) The
Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the States Grants (Housing) Act 1971–1973.
Commencement.
2.This Act shall come into operation
on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.
Interpretation.
3.Section 3 of the Principal Act is
amended by omitting from sub-section (1) the definition of “prescribed year”
and substituting the following definitions:—
“‘prescribed
year’ means the year that commenced on 1st July, 1971, or the next succeeding
year;
“‘relevant
year’ means the year that commenced on 1st July, 1971, or any of the next four
succeeding years;”.
Additional
grants for purposes of rental assistance.
4.Section 10 of the Principal Act is
amended by omitting from sub-section (1) the word “prescribed” and substituting
the word “relevant”.
