States Grants (Advanced Education) (No. 2)

An Act relating to the Grant of Financial Assistance to the States in connexion with Advanced Education.

[Assented to 2 November 1972]

BE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—

Short title and citation.

1.—(1.) This Act may be cited as the States Grants (Advanced Education) Act (No. 2) 1972.

(2.) The States Grants (Advanced Education) Act 1969–1971, as amended by the States Grants (Advanced Education) Act 1972, is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

(3.) Section 1 of the States Grants (Advanced Education) Act 1972 is amended by omitting sub-section (3.).

(4.) The Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the States Grants (Advanced Education) Act 1969–1972.

Commencement.

2. This Act shall be deemed to have come into operation on the first day of January, One thousand nine hundred and seventy-two.

First Schedule.

3. The First Schedule to the Principal Act is amended by omitting Part III. and inserting in its stead the Part set out in the First Schedule to this Act.

Second Schedule.

4. The Second Schedule to the Principal Act is amended—

(a)by omitting from the second and third columns, opposite to the words “Riverina College of Advanced Education” in the first column, the words and figures—

“Other works and services............................................................

and inserting in their stead the words and figures—

“Erection of principal’s residence.................................................

20,000

Other works and services............................................................

183,000”;

and

(b)by omitting from the second column, opposite to the words “The New South Wales College of Nursing” in the first column, the words “Erection of library and administration building” and inserting in their stead the words “Establishment of library and administration block”.

Changes in names of colleges of advanced education.

5. A place of education or a body that was, for the purposes of the Principal Act, referred to by a name specified in the first column of the Second Schedule to this Act shall, for the purposes of the Principal Act, as amended by this Act, be deemed to be the college of advanced education referred to in the second column of that Schedule opposite to that name.
