2 State Transport Amendment Regulation (No. 3) 1991 Amended regulations 2. The State Transport Regulations 1987 are amended as set out in this regulation. Name of provision units 3.(1) A provision of the State Transport Regulations 1987 that was, immediately before the commencement of this section, called a regulation may be called a section. (2) A provision of the State Transport Regulations 1987 that was, immediately before the commencement of this section, called a subregulation may be called a subsection. (3) A reference in the State Transport Regulations 1987 to a regulation or subregulation of the regulations designated by a number is a reference to a section or subsection of the regulations designated by that number. Replacement of s.1 (Short title) 4. Section 1— omit, insert— ‘Short title ‘1. This regulation may be cited as the State Transport Regulation 1987 . ’. Amendment of s.43 (Private hire cars) 5. Section 43(2)— omit, insert— ‘(2) The driver of a private hire car must not— (a) demand more than the amount of the hiring charge agreed on; or (b) while carrying out a hiring, carry out, or attempt to carry out, another hiring; or (c) display a sign visible from outside the vehicle that—

3 State Transport Amendment Regulation (No. 3) 1991 (i) refers to the charge for hiring the vehicle; or (ii) indicates that the vehicle is available for hire. ’. Amendment of s.52 (Use of vehicles for hire generally) 6. Section 52(2)— omit, insert — ‘(2) A person must not smoke in a licensed cab or private hire car. ’. ENDNOTES 1.
