State Service (Restructuring) Order 2008

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council and on the recommendation of the Minister, make the following order under section 11 of the State Service Act 2000 .12 February 2008

1Short titleThis order may be cited as the State Service (Restructuring) Order 2008 . 2CommencementThis order takes effect on 12 February 2008. 3Amalgamation of Government departments, &c.Tourism Tasmania and Events Tasmania, parts of the Department of Tourism, Arts and the Environment, are amalgamated with the Department of Economic Development. 4Change of name of Department of Tourism, Arts and the EnvironmentThe name of the Government department known as the Department of Tourism, Arts and the Environment is changed to the Department of Environment, Parks, Heritage and the Arts. 5Change of name of Department of Economic DevelopmentThe name of the Government department known as the Department of Economic Development is changed to the Department of Economic Development and Tourism.

Displayed and numbered in accordance with the Rules Publication Act 1953.

Notified in the Gazette on 12 February 2008

This order is administered in the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the order) This order effects a restructuring of the State Service by –

(a) amalgamating Tourism Tasmania and Events Tasmania with the Department of Economic Development and renaming that department as the Department of Economic Development and Tourism; and (b) renaming the Department of Tourism, Arts and the Environment as the Department of Environment, Parks, Heritage and the Arts.
