STATE ROADS ACT 1986—REGULATION
(Relating to road trains)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council,
and in pursuance of the State Roads Act 1986, has been pleased to make
the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement
1. This Regulation commences on 19 June 1992.

2. The State Roads (Excess Vehicle Weight Permit) Regulation 1987 is
amended:
| (a) | by inserting in clause 2 (2) in alphabetical order the following |
definitions:
“B-double” means a road train consisting of an articulated
vehicle with a semi-trailer attached where the rear trailer is
superimposed onto the semi-trailer of the articulated vehicle;
“road train” means a motor vehicle combination comprising:
(a)
a rigid vehicle or a grime mover with two or more trailers or semi-trailers attached; or
(b)
an articulated vehicle with one or more trailers or semi-trailers attached,
but does not include a motor vehicle combination of more
than 17 metres in length which is carrying or comprises an
indivisible load.1992—No. 317
(b)
by inserting in the 9th entry under the heading “Vehicle Type” in Table B after the words “that is not a low loader” the words “or a road train”;
(c)
by omitting the last entry under the heading “Vehicle Type” in Table B and the figures opposite that entry in Columns 1, 2 and 3 and by inserting instead the following matter:

The object of this Regulation is:
(a) to define “road train” (in the same terms as it is defined in the Motor Traffic Regulations 1935 made under the Traffic Act 1909) and to
distinguish “B-doubles” as particular kinds of road trains; and
(b) to provide for the issue of excess vehicle weight permits in respect of road
