I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council and on the recommendation of the Minister, make the following order under section 18(2) of the State Policies and Projects Act 1993 .19 April 1999

1Short titleThis order may be cited as the State Policies and Projects (Project of State Significance) Order 1999 . 2CommencementThis order is of no effect until it has been approved by both Houses of Parliament under section 18 of the State Policies and Projects Act 1993 . 3Project of State significanceThe proposal by Basslink Pty. Ltd. (ACN 061 253 549) for the establishment of an interconnection linking the Tasmanian and Victorian electricity grids by a high voltage direct current submarine cable across Bass Strait is declared to be a project of State significance.

Displayed and numbered in accordance with the Rules Publication Act 1953.

Notified in the Gazette on 19 April 1999

This order is administered in the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the order) This order declares the proposal by Basslink Pty. Ltd. for the establishment of an interconnection linking the Tasmanian and Victorian electricity grids by a high voltage direct current submarine cable across Bass Strait to be a project of State significance.
