AN ACT to amend the State Housing Act, 1946-1960.

[Assented to 6th November, 1961.]

RE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent

Majesty, by and with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council and the Legislative

Assembly of Western Australia, in this present

Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the

same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the State Housing	Short title
and citation.

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act

may be cited as the State Housing Act, 1946-1961.

Commence-

ment. 2. This Act shall come into operation on a day

to be fixed by proclamation.

S. 9 amended. 3. Section nine of the principal Act is amended

(a)	by substituting for the word, "three", being the first word in paragraph (a) of subsec- tion (2), the word, "two";
(b)	by deleting the word, "and" in line one of paragraph (d) of subsection (2);
(c)	by adding after the passage, "(No. 11 of 1945 Commonwealth) in line four of para- graph (e) of subsection (2), the following-

; and

(f) one shall be a person with a wide knowledge of and experience in housing conditions in the State and the providing of housing accom- modation.

amended. 4. Section twelve of the principal Act is amended

by substituting for the word, "three" in line two, the

word, "two".

amended. 5. Subsection (1) of section twenty-one of the

principal Act is amended by adding after paragraph

(o) a paragraph as follows-

(oa) without limiting the generality of the fore- going powers, erect houses on land pur- chased, held or acquired by the Commission for the purpose of leasing on such terms and conditions as the Commission thinks fit, the houses to such persons employed under the Crown in right of the State as the Minister approves and to maintain, repair, carry out any improvements to and generally to control and manage those houses.

6. Section twenty-four of the principal Act is am

amended

(a) by deleting the passage, "(except funds of the Commission under subsection (3) of this section)" in lines one and two of sub- section (2);

(b) by repealing subsection (3);

(c) by deleting the passage, "or The State Housing Commission (Weekly Tenancy) Account" in lines two and three of sub- section (6).

7. Subsection (4) of section thirty-five of the amended.

principal Act is amended by deleting the words, "land and" in line eight of subparagraph (iii) of paragraph (a).

8. Subsection (2) of section sixty A of the prin- cipal Act is amended by substituting for the words, "three thousand pounds" where they appear in line two of paragraph (a), again in lines three and four of paragraph (b) and again in line two of paragraph (c), the words, "three thousand three hundred pounds". amended.
