AN ACT to amend the State Housing Act, 1946-11947.

[Assented to 18th November, 1948.]

BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty,by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title.

1.

This Act may be cited as the State Housing Act Amendment Act, 1948, and shall be read as one with the State Housing Act, 1946-1947 (Act No. 51 of 1946, as amended by No. 27 of 1947), hereinafter called the principal Act.

Amendment

of s. 6.

Section six of the principal Act is amended by

adding at the end of the definition of "worker" the word

and paragraph following:

or

(c) is ordinarily resident north of the twenty-sixth parallel of latitude and, on the recommenda- tion of the Commission and for reasons given by it in writing, is approved by the Minister as a worker under and for the purposes of this Act.

4.    Section twenty-six of the principal Act is amended team eat

by adding to the proviso to subsection (1) the words "unless in the case of dwelling-house situate north of the twenty-sixth parallel of latitude, the Minister, on the recommendation of the Commission and for reasons given by it in writing, approves of a cost exceeding such sum."

Amendment

5.

Section forty of the principal Act is amended by adding to the proviso to paragraph (b) of subsection (1) the words "unless, in the case of a person ordinarily resident north of the twenty-sixth parallel of latitude, the Commission, for reasons stated by it in writing, recommends to the Minister the making of an advance exceeding such sum."
