State Grants Commission Amendment Act 2000

An Act to amend the State Grants Commission Act 1976

[Royal Assent 19 September 2000]

Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1Short titleThis Act may be cited as the State Grants Commission Amendment Act 2000 . 2CommencementThis Act commences on 2 July 2000 but, if this Act does not recieve the Royal Assent by 2 July 2000, it is taken to have commenced on that day. 3Principal ActIn this Act, the State Grants Commission Act 1976 is referred to as the Principal Act. 4Section 3 amended (Establishment and functions of the State Grants Commission) Section 3(2) of the Principal Act is amended as follows: (a) by omitting from paragraph (c) "GST law in accordance with that Act." and substituting "GST Law in accordance with that Act; and"; (b) by inserting the following paragraph after paragraph (c) : (d) the distribution between councils in each financial year of funds made available by the State from its collection of motor tax from the registration of heavy vehicles, within the meaning of the Motor Vehicles Taxation Act 1981 . 5Section 9 amended (Provisions relating to functions of the Commission) Section 9(2) of the Principal Act is amended as follows: (a) by omitting from paragraph (a) "the" first occurring and substituting "subject to section 8A, the"; (b) by omitting from paragraph (b) " Local Government (Financial Assistance) Act 1986 " and substituting " Local Government (Financial Assistance) Act 1995 ".
