Restriction “ [26 b .] (I.) Where due to limitations in the ocofnsumption capacity of the generating plant, electric lines, other of electricity works, or any of them, comprised in the electricity wcahpearceity to undertaking of an Electric Authority the Commission is supply of satisfied that, for the purpose of ensuring at all times eulnedcterritcaiktying a regular, efficient and constant supply of electricity is limited. within the aforesaid limits of capacity, it is necessary to restrict the lamps, or other consuming devices, or both the lamps and other consuming devices which may be used by consumers entitled to be supplied with electricity by that Electric Authority, then' the Commission may, with the approval of the Minister, by order, impose restrictions as aforesaid in such manner and to such extent as it deems necessary in the circumstances including (but without limit to the power of the Commission to define the manner and extent of the restrictions as aforesaid imposed by it) by prohibiting the use of specified lamps, or specified other consuming devices, or both specified lamps and specified other consuming devices. (2.) In and for the purposes of an order under this section, any lamp or other consuming device may be specified by reference to the capacity, or class, or kind or description thereof, or in any other manner sufficiently identifying the same. (3.) The Commission may, from time to time, with the approval of the Minister, by further order amend, alter, vary or otherwise modify or revoke any order made by it under this section, but the revocation of such an order shall not prejudice or affect howsoever the power of the Commission at any later time to reimpose, in respect of the Electric Authority concerned, either the restrictions contained in the revoked order or, additionally to or in substitution for those restrictions, any further or other restrictions imposable under this section. (4.) Subject to revocation as aforesaid, an order under this section shall be of force without limit of time. (5.) (a) Any and every order under this section shall be published in the Gazette and, on and from the * 1 G. 6 No. 26 and amending Acts.
ELECTRICITY. 93 P art II.— 1954. State Electricity Commission, Etc., Act. A mendments op “T he S tate E lectricity C ommission date of such publication, shall have the force of law A ct 1 s , 95129. 3“7 to and be binding upon the Electric Authority concerned and every other person whomsoever. (6) The Electric Authority concerned shall give pubhc information of an order under this section— (i.) By, within fourteen days after the date of the publication in the Gazette of that order, giving notice in writing thereof to each and every consumer of electricity supplied by that Electric Authority; (ii.) By, within fourteen days after the date of the publication in the Gazette of that order, causing the same to be published at least once in at least one newspaper circulating in the area in which that Electric Authority is authorised to supply electricity ; and (iii.) If the Commission directs that the order be further advertised, by advertising it as directed by the Commission. (6.) If a consumer of electricity— (а) Uses or permits or allows to be used for consuming electricity any lamp or other consuming device contrary in any respect to any restriction imposed by an order under this section; or (б) Instals or permits or allows to be or to remain installed in any premises supplied by an Electric Authority with electricity any lamp or other consuming device at a time when the use of that lamp or other consuming device for consuming electricity supplied by that Electric Authority is prohibited by an order under this section, the Electric Authority concerned may disconnect that consumer’s installation without notice and may discontinue the supply to him of electricity for such period not longer than one month as that Electric Authority shall determine. (7.) (a) At any time and from time to time during the continuance in force of an order under this section, any authorised person may enter any premises supplied with electricity by the Electric Authority concerned and there make such search and examination as is necessary to determine whether or not that order is, in respect ofthose premises, being contravened in any respect.

(6) A person who obstructs, resists, or assaults an authorised person in the exercise of his powers under this subsection shall be guilty of an offence against this Act and liable to a penalty of not more than fifty pounds. (c) In and for the purposes of this subsection the term “ authorised person ” means any electric inspector, any installation inspector, or any person authorised to exercise the powers conferred by this subsection by an authority in writing given by the Commission or by the Electric Authority concerned or, if that Electric Authority is a Local Authority, by the chairman or clerk of that Local Authority.” P art III.— A mendments of “T he RE elgeciotnraicl P art III. —A mendments of *“T he R egional E lectric A uthorities A cts , 1945 to A uthorities A cts , 1945 to 1952.” 1952.’* Construction 5. V2I5. Authorities Acts, 1945 to 1952,” is repealed and, in lieu No. 16. of that repealed section, the following section is inserted, namely:— Vacancy in “ [25.] (I.) If a vacancy occurs in the office of ochffaiciremoafn. chairman the Board shall give immediate notice thereof to the Minister and shall within one month of the occurrence of the vacancy appoint one of their number to be chairman: Provided that the Board shall not make such an appointment at any time when a vacancy exists, or vacancies exist, in its membership but, in that event, shall make the appointment of chairman at the meeting of the Board first held after the vacancy or vacancies in the membership thereof shall have been filled. . (2.) If, upon a vacancy occurring in the office of chairman, the members of the Board fail for any reason to duly appoint, pursuant to the provisions applicable 1 the case of subsection one of this section, one of their number to be chairman the Governor in Council may appoint a member of the Board to be chairman. * 9 G. 6 No. 16 and amending Acts.

This Act may be cited as “ The Australian Sh°rt title Consular Officers’ Notarial Powers and Evidence Acts instruction. Amendment Act of 1953,” and shall be read as one with *“ The Australian Consular Officers’ Notarial Powers and Evidence Acts, 1946 to 1949,” herein referred to as the Principal Act. The Principal Act and this Act may be collectively Collective cited as “ The Australian Consular Officers’ Notarial tltIe' Powers and Evidence Acts, 1946 to 1953.” 2. Section two of the Principal Act is amended— Amendments (i.) By repealing in that section the definition of the term “ Australian Consular Officer ” and by inserting, in lieu of that repealed definition, the following definition :— ““Australian Consular Officer”—A person ^u^raJmn appointed to hold or act in any of the following officer, offices (being an office of the Commonwealth of Australia) in a country or place outside Australia :— (а) Ambassador ; (б) High Commissioner; (c) Minister ; (d) Head of Mission ; (e) Commissioner; (/) Charge d’Affaires ; * 10 G. 6 No. 43 and amending Act.
