EXPLANATORY NOTE

Under the State Authorities Non-contributory Superannuation Act 1987, employers within the meaning of the Act are required to make superannuation contributions in respect of certain of their employees to the fund kept under the Act. Schedule 1 to the Act lists organisations and bodies that are employers for the purposes of the Act. Section 27 of the Act authorises the Governor-in-Council, by order, to amend the Schedule. The purpose of this Order is to include Port Macquarie Base Hospital in the list of employers. However, the Act will apply only to those employees of the Hospital for whom the Hastings District Hospital paid contributions to that fund on 2 November 1994, the date on which the employment of those employees was transferred from Hastings District Hospital to Port Macquarie Base Hospital.
