State Authorities Non-contributory Superannuation Act 1987-Order

GORDON SAMUELS, Governor.

I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 27 of the State Authorities Non-contributory Superannuation Act 1987, do, by this my Order, amend Schedule 1 to that Act (Employers) by inserting in Part 1 of that Schedule after the words “Garvan Institute of Medical Research” the following words:

(limited to those persons who were employees of that institute immediately

before 6 March 1998)

Explanatory note

Under the State Authorities Non-contributory Superannuation Act 1987, employers within the meaning of the Act are required to make superannuation contributions in respect of certain of their employees to a fund kept under the Act. Schedule 1 to the Act lists organisations and bodies that are employers for the purposes of the Act. Section 27 of the Act

authorises the Governor-in-Council, by Order, to amend that Schedule.

Explanatory note

The Garvan Institute of Medical Research is already listed in Schedule 1 to the Act. The object of this Order is to limit the application of the provisions

of the Act to those persons who were employees of that Institute
immediately before 6 March 1998.
