(2) This Act shall be deemed to have commenced

upon the thirty-first day of March, one thousand nine

charged, levied, collected and paid under the provisions of the Stamp Duties Act, 1920-1932, as amended by this Act, for the use of His Majesty and for the credit of the Consolidated Revenue Fund in respect of the instru­ ments referred to in section three of this Act, stamp duties at the several rates and of the several amounts and by the persons specified in that section in lieu of the stamp duties payable in respect of such instruments prior to the said date.
