[A ssented to 6 th D ecember , 1954.] TBicsTTsAMP A mendment Ai9T54OF E it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, B by and with the advice and consent of the Legis­ lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:— 1 (1.) This Act may be cited as The Stamp Acts short title. Amendment Act of 1954.” (2.) *“ The Stamp Acts, 1894 to 1950,” are in this Principal Act referred to as the Principal Act. Aot' (3.) The Principal Act and this Act may be Collective collectively cited as The Stamp Acts, 1894 to 1954.” tltle- 2. The First Schedule to the Principal Act is Amendments amended— o S f ch F e i d r u s l t e. (а) By, in the exemption numbered (4) appearing under the heading “ Agreement or any Memorandum of an Agreement ”, repealing the words “ four hundred pounds ” and inserting, in lieu of those repealed words, the words “ one thousand and forty pounds ”. (б) By adding to the exemptions appearing under the heading “ Bill of Exchange ” the following exemption, namely:— “ Subject to approval by the Treasurer of this exemption applying in the case of the agent in question and to that approval remaining unrevoked at the relevant time (it being hereby declared that the Treasurer may by notice published in the Gazette grant or revoke such an approval) all cheques drawn on a bank in this State by the accredited agent of the government of a country outside the Commonwealth and so drawn by that agent in his capacity and for a purpose of his office as such agent.”; (c) By repealing the fifth exemption appearing under the heading “ Receipt ”, being the exemption reading 44All receipts or discharges given by any seaman, labourer, or menial servant for the payment of wages ” ; and (d) By, in the last exemption appearing under the heading 46 Receipt ”, repealing the symbol and figures 44 £400 ” and inserting, in lieu of that repealed symbol and figures, the symbol and figures 44 £1040 * 58 V. No. 8 and amending Acts.
